Nudge: temporary depth adjustment
Ditching chapter of the Ditch Assist app manual. The same text is in the app under Manual.

Nudge lets you raise or lower the target depth temporarily without changing your saved design. The most common reason: the soil is harder than expected and the scraper cannot reach final grade in one pass.
How nudge works:
- Each tap of Nudge Up raises the target by 2″ (the blade goes shallower).
- Each tap of Nudge Down lowers it by 2″ (the blade goes deeper).
- The current nudge shows in the stats bar as e.g. "+4″" or "-2″".
- Range is effectively unlimited (±999″) — nudge can act as a progressive depth offset across many passes. (Only the Tiling rock-hit auto-nudge stays clamped at ±24″.)
- Tap Reset to clear nudge back to 0.
The blade follows target + nudge. Nudge is not saved to your design — it is a session offset.
Multi-pass grading without Auto-Nudge:
Suppose your design wants an 8″ cut and your scraper handles 2″ per pass.
- Pass 1: tap Nudge Up three times → target is "+6″" above design. Drive the route, you cut 2″.
- Pass 2: tap Nudge Down once → "+4″". Drive again, you cut another 2″.
- Pass 3: "+2″". Drive again, another 2″.
- Pass 4: tap Reset to "0″" (final). Drive the last pass.
That works but every pass needs hand adjustment. Auto-Nudge automates this — see the next page.
Sensitivity setting
Settings → GRADING → Nudge Sensitivity changes the per-tap step. Default 2″ in imperial (0.17 ft in Decimal Feet mode — same stored step), 5 cm metric. Halve it to 1″ if you want finer control.
Nudge and Auto-Nudge are mutually exclusive. While Auto-Nudge is on, the Nudge Up / Nudge Down buttons are replaced by Pass + / Pass − in the sidebar — manual nudge taps have no effect on the target. Turn Auto-Nudge off in Settings → GRADING (or via the toggle in the stats bar) to get the manual nudge buttons back. The two systems can't be used together.
