In the app Survey and grade maps › buttons at the bottom right
Every survey and grade map has a column of dark square buttons at the bottom right. Each has a coloured icon and no label. Some only appear when they have something to do. From top to bottom:
- The map buttons. Bottom right of every survey and grade map. Each one is explained below.

- Height (LiDAR elevation check). Green up-and-down arrow. Only when a saved LiDAR DEM exists.
- Layers. Blue stacked sheets. Opens Map Layers.
- Orientation. Grey arrow = Track-up, green north arrow = North-up.
- Follow GPS. Target. Green = the map follows you.
With Field Mode on, a fifth button (a zig-zag timeline icon) sits under the layers button. See Whole-field lines.
Follow GPS
The bottom button, with a target icon. While it's green, the map keeps your position on screen and moves with you.
Drag the map with a finger and following stops: the button turns grey.
Tap the grey target button
The map jumps back to your position and follows again. The button turns green.

- Follow off (grey, after you moved the map). Tap to come back to your position.
When you start recording a survey or start grading, the map zooms in on your position.
Track-up or north-up
The arrow button, just above Follow GPS, switches how the map turns:
- Track-up (the default; grey arrow): the map turns so the way you're driving points up the screen.
- North-up (green north arrow): north stays at the top, and your arrow shows which way you're heading.
Tap the arrow button
The map switches, and a message along the bottom says which way:
Map: north up
orMap: track up — turns with your direction of travel
. Tap again to switch back.

- Track-up: grey arrow. Tap it for north-up.
You should see the button change to a green north arrow:
1
- North-up on: green north arrow. Tap again for track-up.
The app remembers your choice. In Excavation the map is always north-up and the button is hidden.
Layers
The button with blue stacked sheets opens Map Layers: background imagery, Coverage Grid, Benchmarks and the maps you add. See Map layers.
Height (LiDAR elevation check)
The top button, with a green up-and-down arrow. It appears only when a field with a saved LiDAR DEM is on the tablet. It reads the LiDAR ground elevation wherever you tap the map, and turns amber while checking is on. Step by step, with pictures: Check LiDAR elevation.
Whole-field lines (Field Mode)
With Field Mode on (the Fields section of the app's Settings; see Field Mode), the timeline button shows or hides everything already done on the active field. It's drawn faintly under your live track: surveyed runs as dashed grey lines, designs as dashed blue, finished grading as solid green. Use it to line a new run up against the old ones.
Tap the timeline button
Third from the top when the height button is there, right under the layers button. Green = the old lines are shown, grey = hidden.
- Timeline button, grey here: old lines hidden. Tap to show them.
Zoom and move the map
- Zoom: pinch with two fingers: apart to zoom in, together to zoom out (Pinch to zoom). There are no zoom buttons.
- Move: drag with one finger. This turns Follow GPS off until you tap it.
- Turn: you can't twist the map by hand. Use the orientation button.
Imagery gets softer when you zoom right in: the sharpest saved detail is field level, and closer than that the picture is enlarged.
On the map
- Your arrow is bright pink so it stands out on any imagery, and points the way you are heading. Its thin edge takes the GPS fix colour (green on RTK Fixed); the GPS badge at the top tells you the fix for sure. In Excavation it is a dot.
- Green trail: where you have driven this session.
- Orange line and dots: survey points.
- Coloured squares: the Coverage Grid while grading.
- Cyan flags: saved benchmarks.
