Settings: Debug, Logs, About and DIG Module Firmware

Send Commands, GPS Delay Timeout and GPS Stale; Log Level and the Send / Share / Clear All log buttons; Version, Privacy Policy, Terms of Service and Reset Startup Warnings; and the DIG Module Firmware updater.

In the app Settings › DEBUG · LOGS · ABOUT · DIG Module Firmware

The last cards on the Settings screen are service tools. DEBUG has the switch for guidance without valve commands and the GPS-stale timer, LOGS gets your session logs to support, ABOUT shows the version, and DIG Module Firmware updates a DIG™ module. Change DEBUG only when you know why, or when Ditch Assist support asks.

Before you start

  • The Ditch Assist® app is open. Any screen will do.
  • Each change takes under a minute. Sending logs takes a minute or two and needs the tablet on a Wi-Fi with internet (not the control module Wi-Fi).
  • A DIG firmware update needs the tablet on the DIG module's Wi-Fi and takes about a minute per step.
  • Never changed a setting before? How to change a setting shows each kind of button up close.

Find these cards

  1. Tap Settings

In the column of big buttons down the right-hand edge of the screen, tap Settings: the fourth button from the top, with a gear icon. (On the Survey or Grade screen, tap the wrench at the right end of the top bar instead.)

The Home screen with the column of big buttons down the right edge: Home, Survey, Grade, Settings with a gear icon, Manual, Pre-Flight Checks.
    1. Settings. Fourth button down, gear icon.
  2. Scroll almost to the bottom

Slide a finger up the cards (how to scroll) past CONTROLLER. Then come DEBUG, LOGS and ABOUT, and at the very bottom DIG Module Firmware and Dealer Code.

Settings near the bottom: the DEBUG card with Send Commands, GPS Delay Timeout and GPS Stale, the LOGS card with Log Level and Log Files, and the top of the ABOUT card.
    1. DEBUG.
    2. LOGS.
    3. ABOUT.

Debug

The DEBUG card has three rows.

Send Commands

When OFF, visual guidance works but no valve commands are sent. With it off, Start shows Auto Grading (Commands OFF) and the chevrons, guide and coverage all work, but the blade never moves by itself. For testing in the shop or showing someone the system.

To change it: tap the switch at the right-hand end of the first row of DEBUG. Green with the knob on the right (the default) means commands are sent; white means they are not.

The DEBUG card: Send Commands with a green switch (on), GPS Delay Timeout with 5s in orange and an orange slider, and GPS Stale reading GPS data is fresh with a green tick.
  1. Send Commands switch. Green: on, commands are sent.

Switched off, it looks like this:

The DEBUG card with the Send Commands switch white (off).
  1. Send Commands off. Guidance only; the valve is not driven.
  • Default: on.
  • Shown: Ditch Assist mode only (hidden in Ditch Assist Lite, which never sends commands). Excavation never sends commands whatever this says.
  • If the blade won't move and the banner says Commands OFF, this is why. Turn it back on.

GPS Delay Timeout

Seconds before GPS stale warning triggers auto-hold. If no new position arrives for this long, the GPS badge and chevrons dim and auto grading goes to HOLD — GPS Stale until positions come back.

To change it: slide the orange dot at the right-hand end of the second row of DEBUG. The orange number beside it (for example 5s) changes as you slide and is saved.

The DEBUG card; the GPS Delay Timeout row shows 5s in orange and an orange slider.
  1. 5s and the slider. Slide the dot to change it.
  • Default: 5 s.
  • Range: 2 to 15 s, whole seconds.
  • Shown: every kit and mode.
  • Separate from it: after 10 s with no data at all the app treats the connection as lost (No data from controller for 10s — connection lost.). That watchdog is fixed.

GPS Stale

A read-only status in the last row of DEBUG. Nothing to tap:

  • a green tick at the right end, with GPS data is fresh under the row name: positions are arriving;
  • a red warning sign, with GPS data is STALE (auto-hold active): no new position for the GPS Delay Timeout.
The DEBUG card; the GPS Stale row reads GPS data is fresh, with a green tick at the right end.
  1. GPS data is fresh. The status in words.
  2. Green tick. Red warning sign when stale.

Shown in every mode.

Logs

The app writes a session log while it runs, plus a snapshot every 60 seconds and on key events (GPS loss, grading start and stop). These files are what support needs to see what happened. They live on the tablet in Documents/DitchAssist/logs/.

The LOGS card has the Log Level row, the Log Files row with three buttons (Send, Share, Clear All), and a short privacy note with a Privacy Policy link. The grey line under Log Files says how many files there are and their size, for example 3 files (39.4 KB).

Log Level

Minimum severity to record:

  • Debug: all activity including GPS detail. Biggest files. Use it when support asks you to reproduce a problem.
  • Info (default): connections, survey events, grading.
  • Warning: RTK loss, stale GPS, errors.
  • Error: failures only.
  1. Tap the box that says Info

At the right-hand end of the Log Level row: a box with the level in use and a small triangle (▾).

The LOGS card: Log Level with a box reading Info and a small (i) after it; Log Files, 3 files (39.4 KB), with a blue Send button, Share and a red Clear All; and the privacy note.
    1. Info ▾ and the (i). Tap the box to change the level.
  2. Tap a level

A list opens: Debug, Info, Warning, Error. Tap one. The list closes and the box shows your choice.

The open Log Level list: Debug, Info (shaded, in use), Warning, Error.
The open list. The level in use is shaded grey.

Forgot what each level means? Press and hold the small (i) after the box (a long-press). A grey note pops up with one line per level.

A grey note above the Info box: Debug: All activity including GPS detail. Info: Connections, survey events, grading. Warning: RTK loss, stale GPS, errors. Error: Failures only.
The reminder that appears when you press and hold the (i).

Send

Uploads your log files straight to Ditch Assist support. The button is grey when there are no log files.

  1. Join a Wi-Fi with internet

Farm Wi-Fi or a phone hotspot, not the control module Wi-Fi. Help: join a Wi-Fi network.

  2. Tap Send

The blue button with a paper-plane icon, first of the three buttons in the Log Files row. A window called Send Logs opens.

The LOGS card; in the Log Files row, a blue Send button with a paper-plane icon.
    1. Send. Blue, with a paper-plane icon.
  3. Type your name, tick the box, tap Send

Type your name in Operator Name (it is remembered for next time). Read what is sent, then tick I understand what will be sent. The window's Send button stays grey until both are done. Tap it.

The Send Logs window: 3 files (42.5 KB), an Operator Name box with a name typed in, a paragraph listing what the upload contains, a Privacy Policy link, the box I understand what will be sent ticked, and Cancel and Send buttons. 1 2 3 4
    1. Operator Name. Required; remembered for next time.
    2. What is sent: GPS positions and elevations, device model and Android version, Wi-Fi network names, names you typed, and your name.
    3. I understand what will be sent. Tick once before the first upload.
    4. Send. Grey until the name and the tick are in.

If the upload can't get out, the window says No internet — the logs were NOT sent. Retry when the tablet has an internet connection. Full walkthrough: Send logs to support.

Share

Joins every log file into one text file and opens Android's share window, so you can email it or save it to Drive yourself.

  1. Tap Share

The blue word Share with a share icon, the middle of the three buttons in the Log Files row.

The LOGS card; in the Log Files row, Share in blue with a share icon, between Send and Clear All.

    1. Delete All. Deletes the log files.

About

The ABOUT card has four rows.

Version

The app version and build date at the right-hand end of the first row, for example v1.5.4 · 2026-10-15 21:28. The same line is at the bottom of Home. Read it to support when you call, and compare it with the current release on the app download page.

The ABOUT card: Version v1.5.4 · 2026-10-15 21:28; Privacy Policy with a blue View; Terms of Service with a blue View; Reset Startup Warnings with an orange Reset.
  1. Version and build date.

Privacy Policy and Terms of Service

Tap the blue View at the right-hand end of either row. The document opens full-screen inside the app; no internet is needed. To come back, tap the arrow at the top-left corner of that screen, or press the tablet's Back button (what is Back?).

The ABOUT card; Privacy Policy and Terms of Service each have a blue View at the right end of the row.
  1. View the Privacy Policy.
  2. View the Terms of Service.

Reset Startup Warnings

Brings back the Operator's Manual window and the safety warning, and asks for the Send Logs consent tick again. Use it before handing the tablet to a new operator.

  1. Tap Reset

The orange word Reset at the right-hand end of the last row of ABOUT. A message along the bottom of the screen says Startup warnings will show on next launch.

The ABOUT card; Reset Startup Warnings, Show manual and safety dialogs again, with an orange Reset at the right end.
    1. Reset. Orange, at the end of the row.
  2. Tap I Agree in the window that opens

In v1.5.4 you don't wait for the next launch: the Operator's Manual window appears straight away over Settings. Tap the blue I Agree to Read the Manual Before Use. The safety warning follows as soon as you tap another button in the sidebar.

The Operator's Manual window: Before operating this system, you must read and understand the complete Operator's Manual; a note that the manual is built into the app; and a blue button, I Agree to Read the Manual Before Use. 1
    1. I Agree to Read the Manual Before Use.

Storage permission isn't in ABOUT: it is in the tablet's own Settings app, under Apps, Ditch Assist, Permissions (the Settings app).

DIG Module Firmware

Updates a DIG™ module's firmware from the tablet. The firmware files are built into the app, so no internet is needed in the field. Shown in Ditch Assist mode only.

  1. Join the DIG module's Wi-Fi

In the tablet's Wi-Fi settings, connect to the DIG module's network (how to join a Wi-Fi network). You don't need to connect to it in the app; the updater talks to the module directly, so it works even on a module too old to connect normally.

  2. Tap Open

The blue word Open at the right-hand end of the Update Firmware row, in the DIG Module Firmware card near the bottom of Settings.

The DIG Module Firmware card: Update Firmware, Check and update the DIG module's firmware. Connect the tablet to the module's WiFi first, with a blue Open at the right end. The Dealer Code card starts below.
    1. Open. Starts the updater.
  3. Let it check the module

The updater checks straight away (Checking module...), shows Installed firmware: … and says This module is up to date. or lists Updates to apply, in order: ….

The DIG Module Firmware window while it checks: Checking module..., with Close at the bottom right.
    Checking the module.
  4. Tap Start Update

Updates go one at a time (Step 1 of N). Each takes about a minute while the module applies it. The app checks the module and moves to the next step by itself.

  5. Rejoin after 1.7

The update to 1.7 changes the module's Wi-Fi password, so the tablet drops off. The app tells you the new password: forget the module's network in the tablet's Wi-Fi settings, join it again with the new password (Wi-Fi help), and tap Check.

The DIG Module Firmware window: Can't reach the DIG module. Check that the tablet is connected to the module's WiFi network, then try again. Buttons Check Again and Close. 1
  1. Check Again once the tablet is on the module's Wi-Fi.

Dealer Code

The very last card. It turns on a dealer's logo and contact on the Home screen. See Dealer code.
