The Home screen
Every part of Home: the nine workflow cards and what each opens, the ACTIVE card and Change Mode, Start New Session?, the LITE MODE banner, the LiDAR & Mapping owners message, the dealer lockup and the version line.
In the app Sidebar › Home (the app opens here)
Home is where every job starts. The Ditch Assist® app opens here, and you come back here to pick a different job. You tap the card for the work you're doing; the app then walks you through connecting and loading or recording what you need.
Before you start
- The app is installed and open, past the first-launch screens (First launch).
- Nothing needs to be connected to look around Home. Reading this page takes about five minutes.
- From any other screen, tap Home to get here: the black button at the top of the column of big buttons on the right-hand edge of the screen.
What's on it
From the top: the Ditch Assist logo (or a dealer's logo, if a dealer code is set), nine big square workflow cards in three rows of three, and a small grey line with the app version at the bottom. Down the right-hand edge is the sidebar, a column of big buttons.
- A workflow card. Picture, name, subtitle. Ditching is the first, top left.
- Version line. App version and build date.
- Survey and Grade, grey until you pick a card.
- Pre-Flight Checks. Orange. Connection and GPS at a glance.
The workflow cards
Each card has the workflow's name and a subtitle, exactly as below.
- Ditching · Surface Ditch: survey a ditch run, design it with Slope-IQ™, grade it. Ditching
- Leveling · Flat Pad: grade to one flat elevation. Leveling
- Simple Grading · Single Slope: one grade from a survey, or a grade you type in (Manual Grade). Simple Grading
- Forming · Multi-Slope: grade to an imported land-forming design. Asks to switch to Metric first. Land Forming
- Terracing · Channel + Berm: Simple Maintenance, Standard and Contour-Guided terraces. Terracing
- Excavation · IQ Excavator: excavator and backhoe grade with the DIG™ Kit (the header reads IQ Excavator). Excavation
- Tiling · Tile Drain: design and install tile at depth, standard or along a contour. Tiling
- Levee · Contour Guide: steer along contours to build levees; guidance only on every kit. Levee & Contour
- LiDAR & Mapping · Field Prep: download LiDAR and imagery for a field and map its drainage, online. LiDAR & Mapping
All nine cards work on every kit, including Ditch Assist Lite. With Field Mode on, each card first asks which field the work belongs to.
Pick a workflow
-
Tap the card for your job
Tap anywhere on the card: the picture, the name or the subtitle. For a ditch, tap Ditching, the first card at the top left.
- Ditching · Surface Ditch. First card, top left.
-
Check the Connect window has opened
You should see a window headed with the workflow's name and — Connect, for example Ditching — Connect, with a big green Connect button. That card is now the active workflow. (Excavation's window is headed IQ Excavator.)

3
- Ditching — Connect. The workflow you picked.
- Connect. Connects to your kit. How: Connect to your kit.
- X. Closes the window. The workflow stays active.
Forming asks for Metric
Land Forming designs are made in metres. If the app is in Feet + Inches or Decimal Feet, the Forming card (first card of the second row) opens a window first.
-
Tap Switch to Metric (or Cancel)
The window is called Switch to Metric Units?. Tap the green Switch to Metric at its bottom right: it changes the UNITS card in Settings to Metric and opens Forming. Cancel, just left of it, leaves you on Home with nothing picked.
- Cancel and Switch to Metric. Switch to Metric is needed to open Forming.
Switch back in Settings when you're done: UNITS.
LiDAR & Mapping is for owners
On a tablet that has never connected to a Ditch Assist kit, the LiDAR & Mapping card (last card, bottom right) opens a window called LiDAR & Mapping is for Ditch Assist owners with one-time activation steps, instead of opening. Tap the green OK at its bottom right to close it.
Connect once to a real control module, a DIG™ module or an activated Ditch Assist Lite receiver (the simulator doesn't count) and the card opens from then on, whenever the tablet has internet. The window only mentions the control module, but a DIG module or an activated Reach works too.
- The window's title.
- OK. Closes it.
When a workflow is active
The card you picked stays in colour, outlined in blue, with an ACTIVE tag in its top-right corner; the other cards turn grey. Survey and Grade in the sidebar turn black and work, and an orange-outlined Change Mode button appears above the cards. Closing the Connect window doesn't cancel the workflow; it stays active.
- Change Mode. Leave this workflow and pick another.
- ACTIVE. The workflow you are in. Tap the card again to start a new session.
The grey cards still work: tapping one switches to that workflow (after a Start New Session? window if there is work in memory).
Change Mode
Clears the job in memory (survey, design, grading progress, nudge, coverage, track) and takes you back to the cards with nothing active. Saved files stay on the tablet.
-
Tap Change Mode
The orange-outlined button with two arrows, just above the cards and under the logo.
- Change Mode. Above the cards.
-
If a window asks, tap Change Mode
With work in memory, a window called Change Mode? says what will be cleared and that saved files are kept. Tap Change Mode, the right-hand button, or Cancel to keep going.

- Saved files are kept. Only what's in memory goes.
- Change Mode. Clear and go back to the cards.
-
Pick the next card
You should see all nine cards in colour again, no Change Mode button, and Survey and Grade grey, as on the first picture.
If auto grading is running, you get Stop Auto-Grading? first, with Stay or Stop & Change Mode. Your grading job autosaves, so you can pick it up later from Resume on the Grade screen.
Start New Session?
To start fresh in the same workflow, tap the card that says ACTIVE again.
-
Tap the ACTIVE card
The card outlined in blue, with ACTIVE in its top-right corner (Leveling in this picture). With work in memory, a window called Start New Session? opens, with the same "Saved files on disk are not deleted" message.
- The ACTIVE card. Leveling here.
-
Tap Start New
The right-hand button. Memory is cleared and the app goes straight to What would you like to do? (new survey, load survey or load design), keeping your connection. Cancel keeps your work.

- Start New. Fresh start in the same workflow.
LITE MODE banner
While the Mode card at the top of Settings is set to Ditch Assist Lite, an orange-outlined strip sits between the logo and the cards: LITE MODE Guidance only — no hydraulic control
. Every card works the same; the app never moves the blade.
- LITE MODE. You are in Ditch Assist Lite.
- Guidance only — no hydraulic control.
No strip and you expected one? Check the Mode card in Settings.
Dealer branding
If a dealer code has been entered in Settings, the logo area changes to a two-line lockup: the Ditch Assist logo, then Powered by, the dealer's logo, the contact name and location, and a phone number. Nothing else on Home changes. See Dealer code.
Version line
The small grey line at the bottom of Home, for example v1.5.4 · 2026-10-15 21:28, is the app version and build date. Support will ask for it. The same line is in the ABOUT card of Settings. Compare it with the current release on the app download page.
The sidebar on Home
From the top: Home, Survey, Grade, Settings, Manual and the orange Pre-Flight Checks. Each is explained in Sidebars.
