What this mode is for
Simple Grading applies a single straight slope across a route. No best-fit, no curves — just a constant percent grade from one end to the other. You can use it two ways:
- With a survey — drive the route to capture the existing ground, then apply a constant slope across that surveyed line. The chart shows the resulting cut and fill before you start.
- Without a survey — just enter the grade you want and a reference point, then start grading. The blade follows your slope from wherever you anchored it.
It is the right mode for:
- Field surface drainage where you know the grade you want (e.g. 0.30% downhill).
- Replicating a laser plane in software (no laser needed).
- Slope-IQ designs that would be overkill for a short, clean job.
The blade is automatic, exactly like Ditching mode. The difference is the design is a flat plane instead of a terrain-following profile.
Workflow at a glance:
- Connect to the controller.
- Survey the route, or load one, or skip the survey and enter a grade only.
- Open the Simple Grade dialog. Set Grade %, Direction (down/up), and optionally a Depth Offset to raise or lower the whole plane.
- Tap Apply Design.
- Set the benchmark if prompted.
- Tap Start and grade.
