Before you start

The two surveys
Terracing needs two surveys, recorded one after the other:
- Channel survey — the centerline of the planned channel (the ditch). Drive end-to-end, just like a Ditching survey.
- Berm survey — the centerline of the planned berm (the ridge). Run roughly parallel to the channel, on the downhill side.
You can also load existing channel and berm surveys from disk if you saved them earlier.
Compaction allowance
The terrace volume math includes a fixed 15% compaction allowance — fill compacts, so if your cut excavates 100 cubic yards, you need 100 / (1 − 0.15) = ~118 cubic yards of fill volume to end up with 100 cubic yards of compacted berm. The factor is built in and is not adjustable in this build — there is no dialog card and no Settings row for it. You'll see it reflected in derived labels like "Cut req. (incl. 15% comp.)" in the volume strip.
Min Berm Height
The minimum vertical distance from the channel's proposed line to the berm's surface. Default 18″ (≈ 46 cm) — adjust per job in the Terrace design dialog (Min Berm Height is not a Settings row in this build; the value you pick in the dialog persists as the next-design default).
Other prerequisites
- RTK Fixed GPS.
- Controller connection.
- Blade height correct.
