The contour is a corridor, not a track. The app never tries to pin you to the exact contour. Survey the channel where it drains best inside the zone.
Build fall by drifting downhill. A contour is level. Watch the DROP and A→B GRADE readouts and ease toward your outlet so the channel actually drains. The design enforces Min Grade, but only against the route you drove.
Berm on the downhill side. Conventional terraces put the berm below the channel. Survey it there or the fill volumes won't make sense.
Set the zone width to your reach. A too-narrow zone boxes you in; a too-wide one lets the channel and berm drift too far apart. The default 12 m suits most jobs; the app widens it to your swath automatically.
The design math is standard Terracing. Channel grade, berm analysis, Auto-Balance, the fixed 15% compaction factor, Min Berm Height — all unchanged. If you know standard Terracing, you know the design step here.
Both halves usually take several passes. Plan for Auto-Nudge on the channel and the berm, just like standard Terracing.
