Grading the terrace

Contour-Guided Terracing chapter of the Ditch Assist app manual. The same text is in the app under Manual.

In the app Manual › Contour-Guided Terracing › Grading the terrace

Installing a contour-guided terrace works just like standard Terracing — a Channel / Berm toggle in the sidebar picks which half the blade builds — with the zone and contour drawn as reference.

Grade the channel (cut phase):

  1. With the toggle on Channel, drive to the channel start. Lower the blade.
  2. Tap Start. The blade follows the channel cut profile.
  3. Drive the line. The app steers you along your driven channel route with the lightbar, and the up/down grade chevrons show whether the blade is above or below target — terrace grading keeps its vertical chevrons because it's multi-pass.
  4. Multiple passes if the cut is deep — Auto-Nudge works here, same as standard Terracing. Use Pass + / Pass − to advance.

Switch to the berm (fill phase):

  1. Tap the Berm toggle in the sidebar. The lightbar now steers along your berm route and the target switches to the berm-build profile.
  2. Drive to the berm start, lower the implement, tap Start. The blade builds the berm up instead of cutting.
  3. Multiple passes if the fill is deep.

Steering plus chevrons

Unlike Contour Tiling, the terrace install keeps both the steering lightbar (to stay on the channel or berm route) and the up/down grade chevrons (to hit the target elevation). The lightbar is horizontal guidance; the chevrons are vertical. The Channel/Berm toggle switches which route the lightbar follows. As in standard Terracing, switching halves while automatic grading is running requires you to tap HOLD yourself first — an automatic hold from RTK loss does not allow the switch.

Hold, Stop, Reset

Same as every grading mode. Hold pauses commands; Stop halts and auto-saves; Reset clears the active design.

Reopening a saved terrace job

To install a terrace you designed earlier, use the Terracing wizard's Resume Job. The app restores the channel and berm routes, the design, and — when present — the contour and zone as reference. If the saved contour reference is missing for some reason, the install still works off your saved routes; the app just notes the contour reference is unavailable and steers from the route alone.
