AGD imported benchmarks
Benchmark Reference chapter of the Ditch Assist app manual. The same text is in the app under Manual.
In the app Manual › Benchmark Reference › AGD imported benchmarks
When you import an AGD design file (Land Forming), the app reads 0MB rows as benchmarks and 2BAL{n} rows as section boundaries. Imported BMs show in the Calibrate Elevation sheet as reference rows tagged Design BM.
The reference-row list with a Design BM:
Rows are sorted by distance from your current GPS — closest BM at the top. Each Design BM row shows:
- A flag icon.
- The BM label (e.g. "Master BM") with a Design BM tag next to it.
- "Benchmark · {distance}" — live distance from your current GPS (e.g. "Benchmark · 23.4 ft").
To calibrate to an imported BM:
- Tap the row. The sheet switches to a drive-to card.
- The card updates as you move:
- "Drive 23.4 ft to the benchmark" (more than 3 m away — blue)
- "Almost there" (within 3 m — amber)
- "On the benchmark — lower blade and calibrate" (within 0.5 m — green)
- When the card is green, lower the implement so the cutting edge rests on the BM (or on bare ground if there is no physical pin).
- Hold still and tap Calibrate (5s avg).
- The app averages 5 seconds of RTK GPS, computes the offset using the BM's surveyed elevation, and applies it.
Why this is the best method:
- The surveyed elevation is recorded with field-grade precision, no drift.
- Drive-to confirmation prevents you from calibrating somewhere else by mistake.
- The 0.5 m proximity gate prevents bad calibration when you're not actually on the pin.
Map markers
AGD imported BMs also appear on the map as cyan flag markers, drawn over the cut/fill heatmap. Section boundaries (2BAL{n} loops) are dotted pink lines.
