Beginning in Alpha Release version 4.28.0 we are testing a new function within Slope-IQ that displays the estimated volume of earth to be moved for a ditch design. You’ll see an estimated value in either cubic feet or cubic meters depending on which measurement system you are using. The calculation is based on the design currently loaded in Slope-IQ, so it will work for both best-fit and customized designs.

To see an accurate estimate, make sure you have set the new Track Swath Width value in Settings with the width of your implement or desired ditch bottom width (it defaults to 8ft). This new function will help you determine how much material you’ll need to move for different design parameters, or to test different routes to drain the same area and determine which requires the least earth moving.

Please remember that the estimated volume value is an estimate based on the implement width, and does not factor in side slopes.

You can try it out in the Alpha release that’s now available for download from our website at https://www.ditchassist.com/app-releases/
